Domenica pomeriggio e sono al Westin Excelsior di Roma una location spettacolare per la sfilata fashion Altaroma dello stilista partenopeo Nino Lettieri. L’ingresso è gremito di persone tra le quali scorgo molte facce del giorno prima.
Da un angolo della grande hall mi soffermo ad ammirare mise elegantissime accompagnate da sorrisi e bigliettini da visita. Questo è un mondo dove le public relation sono un must. Alterno momenti di gioia fanciullesca perché posso curiosare da questa finestra spalancata su un mondo nuovo per me, ad attimi di imbarazzo quando realizzo che in molti casi è il mondo della grande apparenza.
Mi ancoro subito alla mia ferma convinzione che la libertà di espressione è intoccabile e mi concentro sul fatto che sono qui per un motivo, sbirciare le forme che la bellezza assume quando incontra l’estro creativo di persone come Nino Lettieri e questo mi riporta nelle mie scarpe rosse londinesi all’istante mentre sorrido dietro agli occhiali 😀
La collezione si ispira al fascino che le figure geometriche hanno sempre esercitato sullo stilista, sin da piccolo quando le scarabocchiava tra i banchi di scuola. Nella grande sala in cui piovono dal soffitto meravigliosi lampadari di cristallo, le creazioni leggerissime e molto originali indossate dalle modelle quasi ci accarezzano il viso. La bellezza si può tagliare e servire come una fetta di torta deliziosa: il bianco e nero che predomina in tutta la collezione trova delle fusioni che si intrecciano nelle stoffe che il conterraneo Gustavo De Negri ha realizzato per lo stilista.
Mi innamoro di una tailleur da grande soirée con giacca lunga e short al ginocchio, ma è davvero impossibile non farsi rapire da ogni creazione che sfila davanti ai miei. Ho sempre amato il bianco e il nero ma qui la realtà supera di gran misura l’immaginazione. Adoro il tocco di colore delle scarpe rosso fuoco che accompagnano come una pennellata un completo con pantaloni larghi o la clutch e le scarpe gialle che completano un abito scollo profondo e gioco intrecciato di righe.
Mi sento un pò a casa quando vedo un paio di uscite con gli occhiali da sole: una montatura pulitissima con frontale nero e astine trasparenti che si fonde intimamente con l’insieme aggiungendo discretamente un tocco glamour. Anche il trucco è perfetto: semplice e geometrico. Infine rimango quasi ipnotizzata dal gioco di sovrapposizioni di pois bianchi e neri su abiti lunghi che si muovono come i fotogrammi di una pellicola creando un unico fluido movimento dell’insieme ad ogni passo felpato della modella.
Sarà che sono una neofita in fatto di moda in passerella, ma ho adorato ogni singolo abito! Dai colori, all’eleganza, all’idea di leggerezza dell’insieme che mi ha suscitato la collezione controbilanciata dal lavoro abile e meticoloso di ingegno e manualità che si percepisce in ogni singola creazione.
I complimenti allo stilista sono davvero sentiti e riesco a farglieli di persona prima di infilarmi velocemente sul treno che mi riporta a Milano. Nel tragitto di rientro non posso che meditare sulle sensazioni positive che mi hanno avvolta nell’intero weekend e che tenterò di tradurre e interpretare nel glasstyle da proporre e inventare: obiettivo “fashion & new ideas” centrato!
Rifletto sull’imprinting con cui ero partita da Milano: ora sono certa che Roma è sicuramente la città eterna e la città del cinema, ma a mio modesto avviso con Altaroma la bellezza della moda fa sicuramente qui una tappa notevolissima.

For My English Friends
Sunday afternoon and I’m at the Westin Excelsior in Rome, a spectacular location for the Neapolitan designer Nino Lettieri fashion show that is part of the Altaroma event. The entrance is crowded with people among whom I see many faces from the day before. From a corner of the great hall I stop to admire elegant outfits accompanied by smiles and business cards. This is a world where public relations are a must. I’m swinging between moments of childlike happiness – since I can look around this open window on a world new to me – and moments of ‘embarrassment’, when I realize that this is a show-of world in many cases. I try to focus to my firm conviction that freedom of expression is untouchable, and I concentrate to the fact that I’m here for a reason: try to catch sight of the forms that beauty takes on when it meets the creativity of people like Nino Lettieri – and this brings me instantly back to my London’s red shoes, while I smile behind the glasses 🙂
The collection is inspired by the charm that the geometric shapes have always exercised since childhood on the designer, when he scribbled them all over the classroom desks. In the great hall, in which wonderful crystal chandeliers seem to rain down from the ceiling, the ethereal and very original creations worn by the models almost flirt with our faces. The beauty we are experiencing can be cut and served such as a slice of a delicious cake: the black and white that dominates throughout the collection mergers with the textures conceived by Gustavo De Negri for the designer. I fall in love to a grande soirée suit with long jacket and shorts to the knee, but it’s really impossible not to fall in love with each creation fluttering in front of me. I always loved the black and white, but here the reality exceeds by far the imagination. I love the touch of fiery red shoes harmonised like a brushstroke with the corduroys or the clutch and yellow shoes that complement a dress with a plunging neckline and a line game. I feel a little at home when I see a couple of outfits paired with sunglasses: a very simple frame with black front and transparent sticks that add a touch of glamour. Even the makeup is perfect: simple and geometric. Finally I got almost hypnotised by the whites and blacks pois layering over long dresses moving like a movie frame, creating a single fluid movement with every step of the model.
Maybe it is because I’m still an amateur when it comes to the catwalk shows, but I loved every single dress! The colors, the elegance, the idea of overall lightness inspired by the collection, balanced by the skillful and meticulous work you can literally feel in every single creation.
Compliments to the designer are really felt and I can make them in person before quickly slip on the train that takes me back to Milan.
In the return trip, I can only reflect upon the positive feelings that wrapped the whole weekend and that I will try to translate new ideas into a glasstyle to be created and possibly advised to my Ottica DIECIDECIMI® clients in Milano: target “fashion & new ideas” accomplished!
I think about my first thoughts when I left Milan and I’m now sure that Rome is indeed the Eternal City and the city of cinema too, but in my humble opinion, thanks to Altaroma the fashion-beauty world made a remarkable milestone here, definitely.
